Another show is in the books! Thank you to our loyal competitors, our generous sponsors, our faithful volunteers and our enthusiastic spectators! It was a lively time of hosting a Combined Test for the first time; offering a Gambler’s choice obstacle class, having a family-oriented Picnic Class- all while keeping the favorites such as Carriage Dog, the Drive and Ride, and a full complement of pleasure show divisions. We had sunny, almost rain-free weather. It was even a tad cool on Friday (at least for Announcer Debra and Show Secretary Taylor!).
The Lorenzo site was pristine, thanks to Site Director Paul Nasca and to Operations Manager, Jen Quinn along with her awesome staff.
Show photographer, Tarah Dean, took many, many photos and they can be found from her link: https://tarahleephotodesign.shootproof.com/ Competitors, please support Tarah’s artistic work.
Looking ahead, but first looking back: in 1976, then Lorenzo site director Russell Grills organized a public exhibition of Lorenzo carriages on the mansion lawn. This inspired horse owners Sue and Jack Voss to drive their Morgan horse, Starduster, hitched to their antique top buggy, from their Manlius home to Lorenzo to be part of the event. The rest is history. The first Lorenzo Driving competition was held the following year and except for 2 different years, (2017 and 2020) the show has been held annually.
Next July 17-19, 2026, will commemorate 50 years since the carriage exhibition. To honor this distinction, the LDC Board will be celebrating 50 Years of the Lorenzo. Watch for updates and plan to be a part of this memorable occasion.
Thank you and see you next year!
2025 will have a Combined Test (Dressage and cones CDE style). Fun Friday non divisional obstacle class. Details provided on the Competitor page.
The Lorenzo State Historic Site is one of the jewels of Cazenovia, New York. The site hosts the original home of John Lincklaen, founder of Cazenovia. The surrounding gardens and the view of Cazenovia Lake make this an outstanding site for the 3 day driving competition.
Spectators and competitors alike can expect a weekend of exceptional driving, shopping & fun for the entire family!
