To our Lorenzo family: our competitors, spectators, sponsors, and volunteers,

Your participation in our tribute to 50 years of this Mid-Summer classic was overwhelming! Thank you for attending and joyfully supporting the oldest ADS recognized pleasure driving competition. While Mother Nature made us wear rain gear on Saturday, the weather on Friday and Sunday was almost picture perfect (minus a bit of smoke and haze from our Canadian friends). Highlights from the weekend included the recognition of Russell Grills, the first Lorenzo Site Manager and Sue Voss, who provided the inspiration to start a carriage driving competition by attending the 1976 Lorenzo carriage display with her horse, Starduster, hitched to her antique top buggy; a record number of attendees at the Friday night Hats Off to Lorenzo Welcome Party and another successful hat contest; a Century Drive completion by Tom Freschette of Chenango Forks, NY; using the Freestyle Reinsmanship format for all reinsmanship classes; the addition of the Limit Division and welcoming junior drivers from nearby Pennsylvania.

It takes many people to organize this annual event and on behalf of the Lorenzo Board, I personally thank each individual that spent their personal time assisting before, during and after the show. I speak for many who feel that the Lorenzo show is a labor of love; we love doing this show for the driving community and for the greater community that supports it.

The Lorenzo State Historic Site is one of the jewels of Cazenovia, New York. The site hosts the original home of John Lincklaen, founder of Cazenovia. The surrounding gardens and the view of Cazenovia Lake make this an outstanding site for the 3 day driving competition.
