
Our official welcome event for our competitors, this event honors our sponsors and supporters. Join us on the front lawn of the Lorenzo State Historic Site; enjoy lite hors d’oeuvers and purchase your $10 signature Lorenzo glass for refillable wine, beer or NA beverage. Watch the evening competition in the Main Ring, including Antique Turnout and Ladies and Gentlemen driving classes; tour the Lorenzo Mansion and enjoy a carriage ride around the Lorenzo grounds. Don’t forget to wear a hat - sporty, elegant, vintage, casual, etc. – and you may be selected as one of our winners in our annual Hat Contest!carefully crafted to transport you to another world.

The Syracuse Orchestra String Quartet is comprised of Peter Rovit (violin), Sonya Stith Williams (violin), Arvilla Wendland (viola), and Lindsay Groves (cello), all full-time musicians with The Syracuse Orchestra. The Syracuse Orchestra is CNY’s only professional orchestra and performs 30+ concerts a year reaching over 100,000 people throughout the region.

Get your bidding pencils ready! The Silent Auction is open during the entire run of the show- with its ‘grand opening’ during Hats Off! on Friday evening. Winners of auction items are contacted no later than 1 p.m. on Sunday before the close of the show for ease of pick up before departure.

Kids Korral activities include “our full -size wooden horse, Dexter, hitched to a 2 wheel cart for youngsters to “experience” carriage driving; hands on fun with Miss Buckland, the dedicated teacher from the Lorenzo Rippleton schoolhouse and the mini donkeys from the nearby Haven at Skanda not- for -profit animal sanctuary.

Circle C Chuck Wagon display – all weekend (July 17-19); Take time to visit with Doug Corey, Sr. to learn about the history of the chuck wagon and how it revolutionized the US cattle industry. Look carefully through the contents of the chuck wagon on display and consider it to be the prototype of the modern RV!
Cazenovia Blacksmith project– Saturday, July 18; noon – 4 p.m.; located at the entrance to the Oakman Carriage and Sleigh Collection Barn: hosted by Jeff McIntyre, this extensive display illustrates the local era when numerous blacksmith shops dotted the Cazenovia landscape. McIntyre is the great, great grandson of John McCabe who was one of the 42 “smiths” that operated in Cazenovia starting with the founding of the town by John Lincklaen.
Oakman Carriage and Sleigh Collection; Saturday: noon – 4 p.m.; Sunday: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Don’t miss the extensive collection of local carriages and sleighs, donated to Lorenzo State Historic site by Mrs. Walter Oakman, great, great grandniece of John Lincklaen, founder of Cazenovia and original owner and inhabitant of the Lorenzo mansion.
