Educational Showcase

Lunch Break Demonstrations

Saturday July 20th  lunch break presentation: The Art of the Coach Horn

Back by popular demand, Dr. David Remley from Honeoye Falls, NY will share about the history of the coach horn and will delight attendees with his abilities to herald a variety of horns. Look for this presentation at the east side of the Carriage House with the John Lincklaen Coach in the background. Arrive earlier to the show and listen for sounds of the coach horn as classes enter the Main Ring.

Sunday July 21st  lunch break presentation: The Side Saddle: its history and influence on equestrian sport and the women’s movement

The show welcomes Gael Orr, certified instructor with the American Sidesaddle Association, and her co-members of the Equestrian Heritage Society who will demonstrate and articulate the art and elegance of riding sidesaddle and how it’s used by modern-day riders from parades to cross-country. Seek out the sidesaddle display and information that this group will have throughout the 3 day show.

 Saturday 1 – 3 p.m.:

Visit the lesser-known Lorenzo Collection Barn that houses a variety of carriages and sleighs that once were owned by individuals in and around Cazenovia. They were collected by Anna Oakman, John Lincklaen’s great-great niece, and she eventually donated the collection to the Lorenzo site. While you are in the vicinity of the Collection Barn, spend time talking with Jeff McIntyre, the recent founder of the Cazenovia Blacksmith History Project as he shares his vision for highlighting the history of blacksmiths in the Cazenovia area, beginning with its founding in 1793.
